Will AI Take My Job?
I have 4 years of experience in IT services analysis.
Last month I asked #Claude directly: will you take my job?
It said no. Gave me a thoughtful answer about human judgment, relationship intelligence and contextual reasoning. Very reassuring. Very well structured.
Then I asked it to analyze Wipro’s last quarterly filing.
It took 3 minutes. The output was better than my first draft would have been.
That was more honest than anything it said in response to my question.
Here’s where I’ve landed after sitting with that uncomfortable 3 minutes.
4 years in, I don’t have 15 years of pattern recognition to fall back on. I can’t say “I’ve seen this before.” I don’t have the CFO relationships or the institutional memory that senior analysts carry.
What I do have is that I grew up in this industry while AI was already in the room. I’ve never known a workflow without it. I’m not adapting to #AI, I’m building with it from the start.
That might actually be the advantage nobody’s talking about.
Senior analysts are learning to use a tool that threatens to replace the experience they spent decades building. That’s a brutal position to be in.
I’m 4 years in. There’s no legacy workflow to protect. No old way of doing things to mourn. Just a question of what I build from here.
So will Claude take my job?
Probably parts of it. The parts I was never going to grow from anyway.
The rest is still mine to build.
